Zwickelmania 2012 Oregon Brewery Tour

2012 President's Day weekend, dozens of Oregon breweries and brewpubs will open their doors to visitors for the state's 4th annual Zwickelmania. Zwickelmania, hosted by the Oregon Brewers Guild (OBG), is a free statewide event that offers visitors a chance to tour Oregon breweries, meet the brewers and sample their favorite beers.

A party at Brandt's place, perhaps in conjunction with a COC judging. Tentative date, could push into March.

Feb. 19th (Sun)
COC February Due Date - Stouts and Porters
Time: 5:00pm
This competition covers BJCP categories 12 and 13 - Brown, Robust, and Baltic Porters and Dry, Sweet, Oatmeal, Foreign Extra, American, and Imperial Stouts. The top stout will be sent to the National competition. Entries (see Guidelines and Objectives on how to enter) with their bottle ID forms need to be taken to Falling Sky Fermentation Supply Shop at 30 E 13th Ave. in Eugene no later than 5pm. Deadline subject to change.

Suggested brew by date for April 22 deadline, depending on strength. Covers BJCP category 9.

Tapping Denny's Beer Camp Alt
Time: 4:00pm
The results are in! The Bier Stein will tap the Alternate Ending alt bier Denny helped make at Sierra Nevada Beer Camp. It's a benefit for Food for Lane County, and there will be be barrels for canned food donations as well as drawings for Sierra Nevada swag.

Suggested brew by date for May 27 deadline, variable to style. This competition covers all beers under 4.5% ABV. BJCP categories include, but are not limited to 1A - Light American Lager, 8A-B - Ordinary/Best Bitter, 9A-C - Scottish, 11A-B - Mild and Southern English Brown, and 17A - Berliner Weisse. Other styles will be accepted as long as they are under 4.5% ABV.

Sasquatch Brew Fest Beer Dinner

Produced by the Northwest Legends Foundation, the Sasquatch Brew Fest Beer Dinner provides an opportunity for old and new friends to gather together and enjoy some of the best craft-brewed beers paired with delicious cuisine. The dinner also features the announcement each year of the winners of the brewing scholarships, presented by Glen's brother Quentin Falconer of the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation.

Sasquatch Brew Fest 2012

10th Anniversary Celebration of the life and good works of Glen Hay Falconer. Designed to showcase Pacific Northwest craft brewing, the Sasquatch Brew Fest allows professional brewers to 'show off,' by featuring unique specialty beers each selected by a professional brewer to honor Glen's memory.

This competition covers all beers under 4.5% ABV. BJCP categories include, but are not limited to 1A - Light American Lager, 8A-B - Ordinary/Best Bitter, 9A-C - Scottish, 11A-B - Mild and Southern English Brown, and 17A - Berliner Weisse. Other styles will be accepted as long as they are under 4.5% ABV. A real farmhouse saison at 3.8% for instance would be great! Oakridge Keg and Cask Festival (VERY TENTATIVE)

The Oakridge Keg & Cask Festival is a fundraiser for the Oakridge Food Box and the Chamber of Commerce. Two blocks of historic Uptown Oakridge will be closed to traffic in front of the Brewers' Union Local 180 Pub and Brewery and City Hall. There will be outdoor seating, local breweries and wineries (from within 100 miles of Oakridge).

Covers BJCP categories 8A-C, 11A-C, 13A-D, and 14A. Bring corny keg and tap or other Real Ale vessel to Falling Sky; no bottled entries for this competition; judging will occur on-site prior to a party. Hosting of the Real Ale competition is still to be determined. This event is to showcase British beers and traditional methods of serving styles such as Mild, Bitter, Pale Ale, ESB, Porter and Stout. Holiday Ale Festival 2012 (Portland)

Held in the heart of downtown Portland, the Holiday Ale Festival keeps attendees warm and dry under a large clear top tent that covers Pioneer Courthouse Square while allowing for views of the city lights. Gas heaters create a cozy ambience under the boughs of one of the region's largest decorated Christmas trees. NOTE: Date tentative.
