Dec. 2000 Newsletter

12/30/00
Last Meeting: The Rubottoms hosted another great Xmas potluck, Ron showed
off his awesome homemade brick smoker, and we enjoyed the great cooking you
folks always whip out.

Next Meeting: Mon. Jan. 8th, 7:00pm at Russ' new shop/brewery. Take River
Rd., west on Kourt to 639 ( Russ' house is set back at the end of a long
driveway on the north side), 461-1548. Subject: 1999 Club Euro slide show
and tasting. We have a new bulb for the projector ($36.00!), and we'll
share some highlights of our 3 1/2 week trip through 5 countries. Of course
there are some very embarrassing shots of club members! The tasting will be
tightly focused, so bring munchies and either homebrew or commercial Dutch,
Flanders ale, Bohemian or Bavarian styles.

Mon. Jan. 22, 6:30pm. 2nd Steering committee meeting, at Chip and Kris',
3240 Kincaid. Chris hosted our first one Dec. 19th, but attendance was
lighter than expected, perhaps because of the holidays. The meeting was
supposed to be 1 1/2 hours of tightly focused planning, but actually drug
on for a loud, raucous 2 1/2 hours, and we only got to plan meetings, but
not to some of the more important issues. After the meeting, several people
mentioned to me that they did not feel they got a chance to say their piece
uninterrupted, and thought we should have a second meeting under quieter,
more respectful circumstances. If you can't make the meeting, we still need
you to volunteer to host meetings!! Please call me at 935-7074 to volunteer
soon.!

In next months letter, I'll list the next 12 months of activities. There
are some solid dates and events, several months have multiple events, and
we still have several holes in the schedule, so GET INVOLVED!

Feb.- Chip will organize our annual pub crawl on Feb. 17.

March- Chris will have a tech/class on March 12.
Russ is organizing the Seattle pub crawl for either March 24 or 31. If you
are interested in going up with us,and staying with us, register with Russ
no later than Feb. 17. If you want to go up and make your own arrangements,
that's fine too.

Glen is willing to organize a trip to Vancover, WA. to tour the Great
Western Malting plant if enough people are intersted, perhaps in Feb.,
March, or April. Call Gen at 747-4018 by Jan. 31 to sign up.

Several club members have raved about how cool Edgefield is, and want to
get a club trip together to go up this winter or spring. Let me know if
interested.

Dues: The club cannot function without dues! Still only 15.00/year, due by
Dec. 31,2000, payable at 26654 Pickens, Eug. 97402, or drop of at my office
in an envelope with my name at 1600 Oak. Please pay promptly, then we won't
have to bug you.

Thanks, Scott
