And Now a Word from President Robin Chitwood:

December 22, 2003

In thanking Chris and Edie for hosting a wonderful Christmas party I should extend that gratitude to their neighbors for their patience (or absence?) at the time of the morning when I left for home. Let’s hope the whole neighborhood was in the holiday spirit that evening. The abundance of strong winter beers and good food had us all feeling pretty convivial.

Please plan on being at the planning meeting on Tuesday, January 6th. By popular demand the meeting place has been changed to Sam Bond’s Garage and will start at 6:30 PM. Bring your ideas and let’s kick the new year off with a strong calendar of events. Cheers, RC.

And Now a Word from Co-President Kent Macdonald:

Dear club members, For the past two years I've enjoyed working with Robin Chitwood as co-pres.  Robin has contributed amazingly. And I thank him for that. What I have discovered is this. Two heads are better than one. The CO-presidency is something I hope will continue. The fact is, it's a lot of fun and I will miss it. But at this time it's best to pass the torch to someone else. As most of you know, I've been building a new business and I now need to focus on that. I am personally asking somebody to step up to give Robin & the club support & new enthusiasm. I would like to thank everybody that has contributed over the past two years. Keep on Brewing.

News You Can Use Department:

Oregon Brew Crew will have a BJCP exam on Jan. 31 if any CBS members are interested. Contact Dan Schultz (s_danno@msn.com) for more info.

Denny has been a busy boy:

Denny has an article on "Cheap and Easy Batch Sparge Brewing" in the Jan. 2004 issue of Brew Your Own magazine.  He will have an article on brewing with rye in the May/June 2004 issue.

Denny will be teaching an Intro to Homebrewing class at the Fern Ridge Library in Veneta on Tuesday Jan. 27th at 7:00 PM.  This would be a good opportunity for anyone who has friends that they'd like to introduce to brewing!  Contact Denny (beerguy@projectoneaudio.com or 998-8580) for more info.

Also, don’t forget that our club website is growing bigger every day! See what Denny has done with www.hbd.org/cascade
